Mission and Vision

We as an initiative have a very clear mission and vision for the health and spiritual welfare of those that live in the rural Amazon region of Peru. The leadership of The Rural Amazonian Health Initiative have lofty goals for the future of our initiative, and seek to build a maintainable system to best ensure long-term results in Peru. Our main focus is on continuing to collaborate directly with the medical community at different organizations that have ties to the Peruvian Amazon. This allows us to share contacts, become one voice for the sake of Christ, and to sustainably meet the physical and spiritual needs of the people in the Peruvian Jungle. We feel strongly that collaboration with other Christians across denominational barriers promotes love and faith coupled with action together as the Church. It is a way that we can serve together to make a better world in the name of Jesus Christ! It also encourages our initiative to have a more Kingdom focused orientation as we ask, seek, knock, and find God's will for the future of the Peruvian Amazon. We want to meet needs in a more holistic way that works alongside the current healthcare infrastructure and involves public health education interventions, training of community health workers in villages, a future full-time staffed clinic, provision of direct medical care, and seeks to support the regional churches. This hope for the future ensures real change, better health outcomes, and a rapidly growing spiritual ministry.

Although our hopes and dreams are in the future, we still understand the need of laying the groundwork in the here and now. That’s what we have been doing for years and we are slowly integrating our future goals into each and every trip. We are currently focused on the integration of effective public health interventions, and in forming collaborations with select organizations that already have firm roots in the region.
